Social Distancing is a hot topic in our world as COVID-19 spreads throughout our communities. Most people imagine standing 6 feet apart at the grocery store, which isn’t wrong, but it’s really just the minimum practice of this protective measure. Social distancing starts with keeping several feet between us and those around us in public and is traceable all the way through self-quarantine measures. Here are some examples of social distancing practices:
- Limiting public space presence by opting for one on one interactions when possible. For example, using online delivery or curbside pickup options for purchases at grocery stores and restaurants.
- Utilizing technology for specialized services. For example, use video chat or live streaming to go to gatherings like book clubs, religious services, and work meetings.
- Rethink your resources with some research. For example, skip the gym but not the workout. Remember that ‘outside’ is not off limits. Fresh air in your yard or walking through the neighborhood (without meeting neighbors at the mailbox) is still practicing social distancing! Need a library?
